Phlebotomy Certification in California

If you wish to pursue a career in California as a licensed phlebotomist, you must acquire your phlebotomy certification. It is usually recommended for people who are looking to get started in the medical field to pursue this career since drawing blood for lab work will basically be you main daily task while learning to deal with patients and other medical personal.

The states of California and Louisiana are the only states that require anyone who isn’t a professional nurse, doctor or medical lab scientists to go through training for their phlebotomist certification. A California phlebotomist has many duties they will perform each day, so the training-whether it is for a position in the Bay Area or any other part of California will be a necessary certification to earn.

A phlebotomist is responsible for properly taking samples of blood from a patient, carefully handling their blood once it leave their body, labeling and cataloguing the samples, making certain every implement and surgical device is sterile, taking accurate notes on the sample’s direction and travel to ensure quality control and prevent contamination.
