Phlebotomy Certification in Boston

Students who want a decent wage after high school without spending a lot of time in school can do so by obtaining their phlebotomy certification in Boston.

If your already currently a medical professional, you may enhance your employability and job skills by taking the phlebotomy certification exam and earning your CPT.

So what is a Phlebotomist, and what do they actually do?

Phlebotomists use special techniques to draw blood samples from patients that are assessed by lab technicians for the presence of illnesses, viruses, nutrient deficiencies or diseases.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says the phlebotomist position is one of the “hot jobs throughout the next decade,” as demand is forecasted to increase.

Available Phlebotomy Training Options

To become a Phlebotomist in Boston, all you need is a high school education (or G.E.D. equivalent) and certification, which can be obtained quickly.

Some people go on to get their Associate’s or Bachelor’s degrees, but most Phlebotomists get by on certification programs that contain all the core phlebotomy courses and offer internship opportunities.

Those who wish to outdo the competition can take a national certification exam administered by the American Society for Clinical Pathologists, which assures more competitive pay.

Required Personal Skills & Work Hours

The best phlebotomists are patient and calm in nature who have great compassion for people who are sick, elderly, fearful, or in need of assistance.

They are competent, quick learners and possess manual dexterity, competent computer skills, knowledge of phlebotomy equipment, and a good memory for important lab terms and processes.

Depending on the setting, (place of employment), a phlebotomist’s work may entail weekend and evening shifts as well as potential overtime hours.
